According to the indictment, doctors are accused of making money and conspiring to prescribe Matthew Perry the desired amount of ketamine, and Matthew Perry's secretary and friend are accused of injecting ketamine on the day of his death and profiting from it.
"[Defendants] used Matthew Perry's addiction to increase his wealth even though they knew he could be in danger," Matthew Perry's lawyer said.
Local media reported that suppliers who illegally supplied ketamine could face life in prison, and doctors who illegally prescribed ketamine could face up to 120 years in prison.
Matthew Perry was found dead in a bathtub at his home in Los Angeles on Oct. 29 last year. He drowned in the bathtub due to cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression caused by ketamine.
